Cancellation Policy
Plans can change. This policy explains what happens when you change or cancel a journey, and what it costs.
1. How to cancel or change
Send your cancellation or change request by email to info@selahjourneys.nl, or by WhatsApp to +31 6 87915060. Your request counts from the moment we receive it, and we always confirm it in writing. If only some of the travellers cancel, this counts as a cancellation for those travellers.
2. No 14-day cooling-off period
The legal right to cancel an online or distance purchase within 14 days does not apply to travel services for a specific date or period, such as flights, accommodation, transport and package travel (article 6:230p of the Dutch Civil Code). That is why the rules below apply.
3. Cancelling separate travel services
If we booked a single travel service for you, such as only a flight or a hotel, the supplier’s cancellation conditions apply. Many airline tickets and discounted hotel rates cannot be refunded, or only in part. We pass on the costs the supplier charges. Our service fee, if any, is not refunded, because the work has been done.
We always tell you the cancellation conditions of each service in your proposal, before you book.
4. Cancelling a package or custom journey
You may cancel package travel at any time before departure. You then pay a cancellation fee that matches the price of the journey, minus the costs we save and any income from re-using the services. In practice, this means the costs we cannot get back from the suppliers, plus our service fee. On request, we explain how the amount is calculated.
You can cancel without cancellation costs if unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at or near your destination seriously affect the journey, for example when the Dutch government advises against all travel to that area.
5. Your deposit
We use your deposit to secure your bookings with the suppliers. If you cancel, it counts towards the cancellation costs, and we refund anything that is left.
6. Changes to your booking
Changes to dates, names or the number of travellers are possible if the suppliers allow them. You pay the costs the suppliers charge, and a change fee if one applies, which we tell you before you decide. A large change can count as a cancellation and a new booking.
7. Transferring your journey to someone else
For package travel, you may transfer your booking to another person who meets all the conditions of the journey, if you tell us at least 7 days before departure. You and the new traveller are both responsible for the remaining price and any extra costs.
8. Unused services and no-shows
Services you do not use, for example because you miss a flight or leave early, are not refunded. Airport taxes on an unused flight can sometimes be claimed back from the airline; we can help you with this on request.
9. If we or a supplier cancel
If we have to cancel a travel service, we tell you as soon as possible and offer a suitable alternative or a refund of what you paid for that service. For package travel, we refund everything you paid within 14 days if we cancel.
10. Refunds
We refund by bank transfer to the account you paid from: for package travel within 14 days of the cancellation, and for separate services as soon as we receive the refund from the supplier.
11. Cancellation insurance
We recommend cancellation insurance. It can cover your cancellation costs if you have to cancel for a reason covered by the policy, such as illness.
